Hi Champions,
Several years ago the enemy of our God stepped up his attacks on the Church in Boston when the scandal broke. Since then our beloved Church has been suffering constant blows via law suits, the resignation of a bishop, apostasy, shrinking attendance, church closings, insults, bad press and more. Her enemies have been brazen, impious, insulting braggarts who have openly threatened to end the influence of the church in this country, if not the world. She has been looking for a champion to step forward from the ranks to take up her colors and fight for her.
On Oct. 11, almost 5 months to the day we started planning in earnest, we held a historic event in the archdiocese. Bringing Charismatics together from every ethnic group in a celebration of our mutual commitment to one another and to our bishop, we took a step away from our comfort zone into a deeper response to the Holy Spirit’s call to live life dedicated to love of God and one another. Our event was not only a celebration that calls our brothers and sisters to rejoice in one another’s presence and gifts, but also a sign to those who are enemies of Christ that his holy Church, his holy People are coming together as one to do battle with the enemy of our God. Like David, who stepped forward to face Goliath on the battlefield, we have stepped forward to do battle for the Church and to pledge our lives in service to our king. I am honored to have you as comrades in the battle. I am awed by your dedication, talents, skills and determination.
What happened this weekend was nothing less than a miracle! In the natural it is impossible. Only the call of the Holy Spirit could have made this possible. But I am convinced that our response to the Holy Spirit to put on this gathering was merely the first evidence that from here on, if we follow the spirit together we will be living lives in the midst of miracles; lives of power and victory in the Lord. Thank you for inspiring one another and especially for inspiring me to continue to seek and obey the direction of the Holy Spirit and bring glory to the only real hero in the story, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
With profound gratitude for all you have done for his name,
