CRS-Boston
FALL CONFERENCE
– OCTOBER 11, 2008
Called to
Mission, Unity, and Conversion
The Don Orion Madonna
Queen of the Universe Shrine in East Boston overlooking Boston Harbor and the
city skyline hosted the first large gathering of the newly chartered
Charismatic Renewal Services of Boston.

Cardinal Sean O’Mally
welcomed the members from many ethnic prayer groups and reminded us that 200
years ago Boston’s Catholic Church was formed by the faithful from many
countries.

We were led in praise by
the Brazilian and Haitian communities.

Father Garcia Breneville
urged this diverse gathering to even greater unity by citing several of St.
Paul’s writings.

Sharing two hot meals
together was another highlight for young and old.

After lunch, we were led
in praise by the Nigerian and Ugandan communities.

Father Paco and the St.
Rose of Lima music ministry combined preaching and song to urge greater
conversion and committment to serve our mission as baptized Catholics.

There was enthusiastic
openness to embrasing our commitment to Jesus.

To cut across the language
barrier radio translations were available in Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and
Haitian Creole. Also overhead projection of words was an aid to building unity.

Two beautiful side chapels
and a subterranean grotto offered opportunities for group and individual
prayer.

We were heartened by the
presence of many clergy.

At the closing Mass Father
Claudio Peters used the Gospel image of the unprepared wedding guest to
encourage all to essentially wear our baptismal garment each day in both our
worldly and spiritual dealings.
The Mass closed with a
healing prayer focused on Jesus Eucharistic presence.

We are indebted to the
tireless efforts of the CRS-B Service Team and countless volunteers who made
this day possible. Here are just a few of the workers.

A three-day conference is
planned for October 2009.
