LIFE IN THE SPIRIT SEMINAR
Nigerian Community at St. Katherine Drexel Parish
June 29 – July 1, 2007
At the request
of Father Anselm Nwagbara, a team from the CRS Boston Service Committee
organized a Life in the Spirit Seminar for the Nigerian community at St.
Katherine Drexel Parish in Roxbury.

Each
session started with sung praise to God led by the parish music ministers.

We
learned that God loves us and wants us to have a full and abundant life close
to him.

But sin
separates us from the life that God intends for us.

Jesus
came to break the hold sin has on us.

Moreover,
Jesus sent God’s own Holy Spirit to give us the gifts we need to come to him.

A whole
new life close to God waits for us.

We have
only to ask God in faith and he will send the Holy Spirit.

Seminar
attendees renewed their Baptismal promises and asked for a fresh outpouring of
God’s Holy Spirit.

This
baptism in the Spirit is a continuing process in our lives.

We need
to use Christian community, prayer, study, and service as means to help us live
the Gospel message each day and grow in the Holy Spirit’s gifts.
